North West County FA Joint Statement

Thursday 31 December 2020 18:04 by Skem JFL

The North West County FA's have today released a joint statement to outline the tier restrictions that are now in place across the North West for grassroots football.

Unfortunately, due to West Lancashire (where our league is played) now being in Tier 4 (as of 31st December 2020), players and volunteers who live outside of this area cannot travel into West Lancashire to play grassroots football. This will affect many of our teams that have players who live in the Liverpool City Region and other surrounding regions.

The government’s guidelines on travel between tiers should be adhered to. These players now cannot move in or out of their Tier 4 region to train or play. For absolute clarity the above means that travel is NOT permitted between all regions in the North West. Under 18s must play only within the region that they reside. For example; Those players and volunteers who live in Greater Manchester, must play only in Greater Manchester and cannot travel to another region such as Cheshire or Liverpool and vice versa.

We were originally due to recommence our league programme on Sunday 10th January, but the committee have now decided to recommence on Sunday 17th January instead.

We appreciate that pushing back the return date may be disappointing, but we have made this decision to avoid last minute disruption and disappointment due to teams having to cancel games due to insufficient players if some of their players aren't able to play due to the new tier restrictions, so this will give us an extra week to figure this out and redo the fixtures. The weather forecast doesn't look great over the next week or so either, which is typical for January.

The committee wishes all our member clubs a prosperous new year and hopefully we will recommence a full league programme as soon as it is possible and safe to do so. In the meantime any further updates will be published on our website.

If any teams have any questions about anything, please contact our league secretary, Jon Trenwith.
