Liverpool City Region Tier 3 Guidance

Thursday 15 October 2020 20:29 by Jon Trenwith

Liverpool County FA have released a statement with their grassroots football guidance for teams and players in the Liverpool City Region.

This affects our league as although our games are in West Lancashire, we are close to the border so a lot of our teams, players, coaches and officials will be affected by this.

Click here to read the Liverpool County FA Tier 3 statement in full.

Here is the main thing from the above statement that may affect some teams in our league:

For the sake of clarity, point four of Liverpool City Council’s restrictions means that any players/teams are unable to travel in or out of the Liverpool City Region for training and/or games.

Just to emphasise, the Liverpool City Region comprises of Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens, Wirral and Halton.

We asked for clarity about whether these new guidelines would also affect junior football:

Am I right in thinking that travel restriction between the Liverpool City Region and Tier 2 regions is for all age groups?

And the County FA confirmed that it did:

Yes, this is for all grassroots football activity, regardless of age group.

We will be closely monitoring the situation in case anything changes. We have a duty of care for the safety and well-being of all users of our facilities, therefore we must cede to the advice from the Liverpool County FA, to whom our league is affiliated.

Therefore, we're afraid that this means that people (managers, coaches, players, parents, etc) cannot travel outside of their area/region in order to play grassroots football matches.

We expect a lot of teams to be affected by this, so we will be postponing the the Cup 1 fixtures that were due to start this Sunday, and instead, replacing them with normal matches for those teams that are still able to play. So please expect a lot of fixture disruption between now and Saturday evening whilst we thrash this out and apologies for the inconvenience.
