April 2018 League Update
23 April 2018
Please see below for a general league update on various topics including mid-week fixtures, a new Awards Presentation date, car parking, spectators, the next cup draw, and more.
We’re going to add some mid-week fixtures on Thursday’s at 6:30pm. These will start on Thursday 3rd May 2018, and will run every week until the league finishes (see the section below about when the league will finish).
There's only a single 6:30pm kick-off slot for these games, so only a third of the teams in the league will have a fixture each Thursday. Teams in the U7s to U11s age groups can opt out of these Thursday fixtures if they wish, but U12s teams will have to play them or else forfeit the matches as we don’t have enough weeks left to finish the U12s league and the next two U12s cup competitions otherwise.
If teams wish to opt out of all Thursday's or can't play on a certain date, please fill in a fixture request form ASAP (by midnight on Thursday 26th April for the first set of fixtures). Otherwise, all teams will be expected to honour these fixtures once they're published.
Awards Presentation Date Change
We’ve had to move the Awards Presentation back a week, so the new date is Sunday 24th June 2018.
Last Day of the Season
The last day of the season isn’t confirmed yet but we hope we can wrap up all the remaining fixtures on Sunday 3rd June if possible. If needed, we can also run until Sunday 10th June or even Sunday 17th June, but the earlier the better of course.
We will confirm the exact date of the last day of the season as soon as we can. The reason we don't have an exact date yet is because it depends on how the U12s cup goes, and whether we can fit in extra league games on a Thursday (depending on who goes through in each round of their cup).
The last couple of weeks of the season will be used for the third cup competition. If any teams need to finish their season before then, that's fine, but let us know ASAP so we know this before we put together the final fixtures and cup draws.
Team Registrations for Next Season
We will be opening team registrations for next season in the next week or so. Existing teams will be guaranteed a place in the league for 14 days after the registration round opens, then places for next season will be given out on a first come, first served basis after that.
Player Registrations for Next Season
Please do not use our website to register players for next season. Instead, we are planning on using the FA Whole Game System for player registrations for the 2018/19 season. This has the added bonus that teams can then print out their own squad list ID cards to exchange before matches.
Manager’s Car Park
Please can all teams let your parents know that the car park behind the clubhouse on the old basketball court is for Managers only. Parents and spectators should park in the main car park at the front of the club-house or on the streets around the ground.
Please remember that teams should be on opposite sidelines during matches, there should be no spectators standing near to or behind the goals, and spectators should make sure they don't stand on the pitch whilst they're watching the games - they should take a big step back from the sideline and give the manager and coaches space to walk up and down the line so they don't have to encroach onto the pitch either). Managers have a big responsibility for making sure that every spectator from their team is adhering to all these rules.
A reminder that teams need to email their team sheets to email@example.com each week, by midnight on the Tuesday following a match (or by midnight on Saturday for Thursday fixtures). If teams don’t do this, then the league will award your result to the opposing team and you may also be fined, so don’t let some simple admin cost your team the points or a cup place.
High Vis Vests
A reminder that all managers should be wearing their high vis vests for matches.
We will be holding the cup draw for the next round of 'Cup 2' for the U7s-U11s age groups on Monday 23rd April at 9pm. This will be broadcast live on Facebook. We'll post the fixtures on the website later that night.
